So you've decided on and researched a great niche idea to build a line of information products around. Maybe you've even finished your first e-book or report. Now, how do you sell it? Obviously, the next step is driving traffic to your website or blog so people can view and buy your product! There are several ways that you can do this but today we will talk about article writing.

By writing an article on your subject, you accomplish several things;

  • you develop interest in your subject
  • you display your writing skills
  • you can earn money since some sites pay for your views
  • you link traffic back to your site where customers can purchase your product

Your article need not be long; 300-400 words will suffice for most ideas if you keep a narrow focus. If you have more insight to share on your topic, write another article. It is better to have 4-5 shorter articles of 400 words on one particular aspect of your subject than 1 long article of 1500-2000 words covering everything.

Most article sites laydown some basic guidelines – your article must;

  • be original material**
  • be informative to your target audience
  • display proper grammar and punctuation
  • contain no profanity, or racist and/or sexist remarks
  • and no blatant self-promotion.
**You can also rewrite one of your existing blog/website posts - just give it a different slant. Turn the subject upside down, inside out, anything to look at it from another point-of-view (POV).

A fairly simple outline to follow when writing your article is to introduce the main idea in the first paragraph and make sure your keywords (introduced in your title) are highlighted very close to the beginning of the article. Then build your material through several paragraphs presenting your supporting ideas, and which can include some of the following;

  • tips
  • strategies
  • techniques
  • opinions
  • analysis, and
  • commentary
To close, show your audience how and why this information will benefit them. Include your keywords here again as this will drive the point of your article home and also affect your ranking on Google searches.

Finally, in a place designated by the article submission guidelines, you can put your links to your websites. This will make sure that the steps that you take to driving traffic to your website or blog will bear much fruitage and reward your hard work.

Make sure that you read the editorial guidelines of the site thoroughly before submitting your first article to prevent your work being rejected.
